First Wicket Training Course Complete
I’ve recently returned from Copenhagen, where I taught my first Wicket training course. Overall the course was a success and eight more people are inducted into “The Wicket Way”. If the students hit a sticking point on their path to Wicket mastery, it was when we discussed models in Wicket.
If you haven’t used Wicket, models abstract how components get data. Proper use of models means less information stored in the user session and cleaner code. Most people coming from other frameworks, like Struts or Tapestry, have problems understanding models, especially if they haven’t done any Swing coding. I’m currently working on an article discussing Wicket models in more details.
As I mentioned earlier, the course was conducted in Copenhagen. If you haven’t been there, I encourage you to visit. It’s a great city with a vibrant population.
